Sicim's last project on Italian territory dates back to 2010, with the execution of the Martirano - Morano Calabro gas pipeline. In July 2022, SICIM will return to Italy with four new projects: two sections from Ravenna to Fano and two sections from San Benedetto del Tronto to Chieti.
The projects, awarded by Snam Rete Gas, are located along the Adriatic coast and involve three regions: Emilia-Romagna, Marche and Abruzzo.
In particular, the pipeline route consists in 175 km of 26 ”pipeline to replace the existing infrastructure built in the 1970s. In addition to the main line, the work includes approximately 56 km of minor pipeline interconnections to the existing pipeline network.
The presence of roads, railways, and river crossings will lead to laying more than 20% of the pipeline length (i.e., approx. 44 km) by using trenchless technologies such as 24 microtunnels, 40 HDDs, and more than 200 auger borings.
SICIM's return to its homeland reflects the group's strong commitment to realize projects on the Italian territory, where the company will operate as always with full respect of the environment, the nature and the landscape that the Bel Paese historically offers.
