Project information

Major criticality of the project:

- Availability of sufficient skilled workers and of Specialty Subcontractors for Camps, Rock Blasting, Survey and HDD crossings, due to the overlap of other major pipeline projects

- TMEP is committed to maximise local opportunities and aboriginal inclusion

- Environmental restrictions (bird nesting, caribou herds, fish bearing in watercourses, etc.) and weather constraints (long winter season with reduced working hours, extreme winter conditions with ice/snow, etc.): both dictate the work schedule and affect the critical path

- Ground disturbance issues: the current in-service line (installed during the 50s) run in the same RoW of the new pipeline for 80% of the time, requiring special care/protection

- Windowed water crossings: 59 rivers and creeks have a restricted installation period (in some cases only 1 week), for 18 this fit with the winter season (January to March) and for the remaining correspond to the summer period (July to September, these latest with only one season/opportunity for their installation)

- Long stove pipe sections: running along the side slope of the mountains with very tight RoW (<12m), next to the current in-service pipeline, requiring rock blasting that affect the production and with few access

- Installation of High Strain Capacity (HSC) pipes: steel/mechanical properties and weldability features unknown to date

No. 28 w/ concrete coating (1.712 m)

Road/rail bores:                  18 highway, 14 railway, 29 others

Steep slope sections:         tot. length 3.775 m, w/ slope > 21,8°

Stove pipe sections:           tot. length 27.442 m, w/ ROW < 12 m wide

Mainline valves:                  No. 41 (fabricated, tested and supplied by others)
