SICIM to Provide FEED Services Within the “Mozambique Rovuma LNG Phase 1” Project

The work has been commissioned by Subsea 7 within the ExxonMobil development plan, one of the most significant energy development plans on the African continent. We will take care of FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) engineering for the onshore part of the section, around 125 miles north of the city of Pemba, in a strategic area for the development of the energy industry in Mozambique. The contract includes the design of 6 pipelines, each around 3 miles long, and an umbilical one of equal length. Together, they will connect the LNG liquefaction plant to the offshore pipes.

Specifically, we will take charge of a number of key operations including process design and pipeline technical safety, as well as piping engineering for the launcher/receiver area and the infrastructure works required from a civil engineering standpoint. In collaboration with RINA, SICIM will also take charge of environmental engineering tasks, with a special focus on the study of the environmental impacts of the works and the development activities and on vulnerable areas, such as alluvial zones.

The challenges posed by the project are especially complex. They are related with the connection between the onshore and offshore parts of the work and with environmental issues, which are common in Mozambique.
